Kovalam Beach is the most important tourist destination in Kerala. Kovalam is situated within 17 kilo meters from the Trivandrum city. Kovalam comprises of three beaches known as Light House Beach, Howa Beach and Main Beach. There are plenty of tourist resorts at Kovalam. The tourist season in Kovalam is from September to May. The sand in Koavalam is black in color due to its mineral properties.

- Surfing – surf boards and body boards are available in Kovalam, you can enjoy surfing here.
- Wooden boat ride – There are country boats known as Katamarans available. Experienced fishermen manures the boat and it is an enjoyable experience.

How to reach Kovalam
Kovalam is well connected by road. It is at a distance of around 17 Km. The Trivandrum International Air Port is very near to Kovalam. Nearest railway station is Trivandrum Central. There are bus services from the City to Kovalam on regular intervals. Recently KSRTC started Volvo low floor AC busses from the city and Technopark to Kovalam.
